42.5 hours-whew
So it only took us 42.5 hours to get home from Sandpoint Idaho to Portersville, PA. We did this trip with only gas, food and potty breaks. No stopping for a slumber party in some godforsaken neon-flashing motel along the way. Of course that meant no showers and well lets just say perhaps that is why people were a bit standoffish near the end of our trip- me I usually attribute this to Easterners being less friendly but…. We were a bit smelly.
We opted not to take the new route through North Dakota since it would be dark already but we did try a different road I 35, which swung down through Iowa and helped us miss all but one toll road going around Chicago. We fight it added about 70 miles to the trip but saved us about 40 dollars in tolls and the aggravation of having windows that don’t roll down.
When my brain wakes up I will attempt some better travel stories but for now just know that we are home and Vern is already back to work warshing coal as they say in these here parts. Yeah for warshing coal- that pays for trips and adventures.
We figured that we have hit 17 states and 2 foreign countries in less then a month- not bad. Time to go buy food- yeah food.
